Fulldome Shorts Contest: And the winners are…

Category Picture Art Design Contest

The first three places are clearly defined, each with a difference of about one point:

1) The Last Dream of Cosmorama, Martin Fuchs, Prague Planetarium; Czech Republic

The film is an artistic impression of the Zeiss Cosmorama analogue planetarium’s last run. Technology evolution in the digital imaging is put to the contrast with nostalgia for precise mechanics and optics which is slowly dissapearing from the world. Dreamy planetarium-style visual is mixed with reflections of strong personal relation to the machine and it’s inevitable end.

2) THE INNER ISLAND, Sergey Prokofyev, Leipzig, Germany

This short film was part of the “Tropicaliszt” co-op project in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar.
The tiny colored world arose on the basis of a music piece “Souvenir de Porto Rico” by the composer Louis Moreau Gottschalk, written in 1857 during a tour in Puerto Rico. The
combination of surreal settings, dynamic cameras, and classical music heightens our senses.
